It’s taken me two weeks to come down from this show. Two weeks to fully grasp all that we bore witness to.
I knew going in that my first BERTHA: Grateful Drag show was going to be a spectacle, but I had no idea it was also going to be musically out of this world, visually stunning, and all around, joyful.
For this article however, I am not going to give you the Aftertone experience. One where we try to capture the essence of the show, such that you feel called to catch one yourself. Instead, I’m going to end the article here, where your expectations are high, but not quite associated with any one thing in particular about the show.
Just, go. Go see them wherever they are. You are in for a show of Grateful Dead musical genius, vocals that will haunt you, jams that explore the deepest crevices of your mind as you get sucked into them, and a stunning array of fanfare from the Queens themselves. I’ve said too much already, just go!
I knew I was going to have a good time going into this show. But I did not realize it would be one of the best Grateful Dead experiences I’ve ever encountered.
Read nothing more, go see this show. Their next stop is Tennessee as they wrap up their East Coast shows and head out west. I cannot wait to see them again.
